意味
焦がし仕上げとも言われ、革の表面を綿バフの摩擦熱で焦がしたように処理した革である。通常のバインダー、顔料等の仕上げでは焦がし効果が得られず、タンパク質系仕上げ剤、ワックス、顔料、染料等を用いて仕上げる。

未塗装のタンニン鞣し革の表面を摩擦熱によってこがし色の濃淡模様をつける仕上げ。主にぬめ革の仕上げ用に用いられるが、植物タンニンで再鞣したクロム革の仕上げにも採用される。ウエスタンブーツや、カジュアルシューズの甲革仕上げに多く用いられている。普通はこがし専用のワックスをすり込んだ革に高速回転（1,000～1,500 rpm）の綿ブラシをあててこがす方法がとられている。着色ワックスも使用される。
A finishing system for vegetable tanned leather where the uncoated leather surface is strongly rubbed to produce a shading pattern of burnt color effected by the pressure and heat by rubbing. It is mainly adopted in vegetable tanned leather finishing but also in vegetable retanned chrome leather finishing, especially for western boots and casual shoes uppers. It involves usually the application of a specified wax composition and the subsequent rubbing with a rotating (1000~1500 rpm) cotton brush. The wax composition may conatin coloring substances.
