意味
革の銀面に平滑性と光沢を付与することを目的として、めのう、ガラス、金属などのローラーによって強い圧力を加えながら摩擦する作業。ローラーによる摩擦で発生する熱がこの作業の効果を高める。グレージング仕上げの主たる作業であり、通常銀面にタンパク質系仕上げ剤やワックスなどを塗布してから行う。
An operation to polish the grain surface for the purpose of imparting smoothness and luster to it by applying a high pressure by a roller of agate, glass or metal. Friction heat generated by polishing with the roller enhances the effect of the glazing on the grain. The operation constitutes the main step for the grazing finish and is usually practiced after applying a protein based finish or wax to the grain surface.
